Sound healing sessions called sound baths are deeply restorative and use instruments with specialized vibrational frequencies to help attendees enter a meditative state. Sound baths are especially accessible for those new to meditation but are great for anyone looking to reduce stress and relax.

What to expect

If you’re anxious about the term sound bath, don’t be - there’s no water or bathing involved! We will start in a seated position where I will guide you through a few breathing exercises to get grounded. You will then transition to a lying position, if accessible, where I will play specialized instruments to create a symphony of sound waves to help you relax and rest. I will then gently guide you out of your relaxation state and back towards awareness.

The science of sound baths

The instruments used during a sound bath emit specific vibrational frequencies to entrain our brain waves to enter what is called the theta state. This is a deeply relaxing state in between wakefulness and deep sleep and is the same state that is achieved during meditation. In this state, our brains signal to our bodies to release hormones and other biochemicals so that we begin to heal from the daily stresses we encounter.

 FAQs

  • I can tailor a session to your individual needs, but typically sound baths last about an hour.

  • The most important thing is to be comfortable, so wear something you will feel comfortable sitting on the ground and lying down in. During deep relaxation, our body temperatures can decrease, so dress in layers and bring socks!

  • Because we will be sitting and lying on the ground, please bring a yoga mat or blanket to lie on and water to keep hydrated. You can also bring a yoga bolster if you have one to place under your knees. I will provide some yoga blankets for warmth and to use as props, but feel free to also bring your own.

Blending the art & science of sound vibrations

Sammy knew she had to learn the art of sound healing after experiencing her first sound immersion 4 years ago. After training with an experienced LA-based sound healer, she now combines her love of music and her technical bioengineering background together to lead sound immersions that highlight the art and science of sound vibrations. She loves helping people discover the power of sound as an accessible way to relax and reduce stress. As a Cincinnati transplant who now calls it home, Sammy is grateful to be able to bring the benefits of sound healing to the Queen City.
